The beautiful Turtle Bay Resort on the North Shore of Oahu has just about every activity you could want. It is the only major resort on the North Shore and is the gateway to the famous North Shore surfing areas. Turtle Bay is located right on the ocean with waves crashing against the rocks. But don’t be fooled, they also have a beautiful crescent bay beach along-side: Kawela Bay, with 5 miles of beachfront. We stayed in a corner junior suite with a large balcony and views of the bay. These are very large rooms that would be great for families.
Turtle Bay has 443 rooms which includes cottages and villas that are all ocean view. You will also find horseback riding stables, tennis courts, hiking trails, a surfing school and great golf. A nearly self-contained vacation spot offering it all!
The villas are spectacular, with 3 or 4 bedrooms and 2 or 3 bathrooms, and include kitchen and laundry facilities and full concierge services. A new on-site spa should be completed by July, 2012.
Just down the road is Halaewa Harbor. This is a funky north shore town where the “shark dive” is located. In the shark dive you will be in a shark proof container and lowered into a swarm of circling sharks.
You’ll also find some wonderful little restaurants here. We ate at one that looked like a converted service station with picnic tables out front. They make world famous hamburgers here (and one of the largest hamburgers I’ve ever seen), along with various other dishes.
We loved the North Shore on our latest visit and especially the Turtle Bay Resort. Contact Hawaii Travel Solutions for advise on booking Turtle Bay and their activities and activities in the surrounding area!
