Are You A Trusted Traveler?

Celebrating Membership in the Trusted Traveler Program

Celebrating Acceptance in the Trusted Traveler Program

Last Thursday I went to Dallas on an adventure that you may interest you. On Friday, I had an appointment with the Department of Homeland Security office at DFW Airport. US Customs and Border Protection approved me for a Global Entry Pass. My colleagues, Gail and Wade Hughes, were approved a few weeks ago. Being a member of Global Entry allows you to bypass the US Customs line when you return home. It cuts out a lot of standing and waiting around…I’ve experienced lines as long as one hour + on some occasions!

Deep Sea Vs. Bottom Fishing In Hawai’i

Sportfishing or Big Game Fishing off the coast of Hawai'i

Sportfishing Hawai'i

I was at a NBA Thunder/Heat  watch party the other night and at half-time got into a discussion about deep sea fishing. It was a fun conversation but it was clear there was some confusion regarding  deep-sea fishing and bottom fishing. One person was telling a great “deep-sea fishing story”about all the fish he had caught and how the other 25 passengers were catching fish right and left. LOL! After a little more discussion we got it sorted out  but I was somewhat surprised at the number of people who were confused.

Transit of Venus

Transit of Venus

If you are lucky enough to be in Hawaii on June 5, be sure to get some eclipse glasses used for viewing the Sun. You will be one of the few to have the best seat to view the “Transit of Venus”, which won’t occur again for another one hundred and five years! The Planet will inch across the face of the Sun for 6 hours and 40 minutes, from 12:09pm to 6:42pm.

Island Retreat: Rest & Reconnect

Road to Hana, Maui

Just a bridge - Road to Hana

My Grandmother would have never made it on the Road to Hana…instead of a lovely day trip, it would have turned into a weekend of examining each and every inch of the forest…and she never went anywhere without a few extra pots for cuttings, a large spade and work gloves. My Grandfather was the lucky guy that took instruction on what to get, how to do it, where to cut it, etc.

Zipline Hawai’i: A View From The Treetops

Canopy Ziplining

Ziplining in the Treetops

We want to hear about your ultimate zipline experience – especially if you have had the opportunity to zipline Hawai’i. What did you like best about your excursion? Last month, I had the opportunity to experience ziplining with one of our incentive travel groups. This was not just a quick zip down one line to the bottom, but a full-blown treetop to treetop experience in the tropical forest. I didn’t even realize that I was going to have the opportunity to fly UPSIDE DOWN! But I did – twice – and it was so liberating.

What To Wear In Hawaii

Hawaii is, for the most part, a casual beach destination. Shorts and sandals (or good walking shoes) are good daytime fare. Also be sure to take a good pair of sunglasses and a wide brimmed hat for protection from all that sunshine. And, of course, don’t forget your swimsuit!
